Castelleone di Suasa Print
Castelleone is located on the border with the province of Pesaro-Urbino. The name of the town derives from the medieval "Castrum Lionis", to which, in recent times, has been added toponym Suasa, to remember the ancient city that once stood along the valley of the River Cesano. The Roman city of Suasa rose in the third century BC along the road that from the mountains Appennini reached the sea in Senigallia, where was the Roman colony of Sena Gallica. The local economy has always been based on agricultural production. Castelleone is also known as "Paese Verde"(Green Town) for its nursery activity, while the inhabitants are jokingly called "Cipollari".
