Vernaccia Cerretana
This denomination refers to a grape variety that is found only in the foothills zone of northern Ancona and northern Macerata (Matelica) areas in ancient vineyards, which are now endangered. The Vernaccia Cerretana is characterized by a really large bunch, larger than Sangiovese and Vernaccia Nera di Serrapetrona. The size of the grape bunch, combined with good fertility of the buds, involves a generous productivity. The wine that comes from the vinification of these grapes is ruby red with purple reflections, with an intense floral fruity smell and with a slightly bitter taste, slightly astringent.
